Frontier Airlines has announced its departure from Delaware, ending services at New Castle Airport in Wilmington, DE effective June 6th, 2022.

This is the second time the airline has left Delaware – Frontier originally offered flights to Denver, Chicago, Houston, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa in 2013, ending services in 2015 due to lack of demand.

Commercial flights from New Castle Airport resumed when Frontier restarted service to Orlando in 2021 following pandemic-related delays, but the airline has announced they are once again ending services.

The closest airport to Wilmington with schedule commercial airlines will be Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), located 25 miles away.

Private Flights still available in Delaware

As services come to an end at New Castle Airport, the airport will continue to focus on private flights and general aviation.

Private jets will continue to be a popular mode of transportation for executives and luxury travelers, especially when you consider Wilmington has one of the highest per capita ratios of private jet ownership in the nation.

Delaware Jet Charter can connect you to private jets and executive turboprops located near you for flights to and from Delaware, with on-demand services available around the world.

There are a total of 10 airports located across the state available for private flights, with Wilmington handling all of the private jet charters, while the others are available for light aircraft and turboprops.
